Blue Door Garage is pleased to announce Stand Still, the first solo show for Tommy May in Los Angeles.

“In the early days of lockdown, I took many walks through my neighborhood, admiring the Jacaranda trees. It was on these walks that I realized that we are in constant motion while nature stands still and that during this time of pause, we became still and nature continued flourishing.”

The paintings included in Stand Still are a return to gestural abstraction, transitioning from the geometric subject matter of highways and billboards to the organic imagery of the Jacaranda tree.
